Laurel Burch was a self-taught artist and “flower child” who created brilliantly colored, vibrant and moving themes with paint and paper, all exquisitely embellished with gold and silver. On our Maria and Mares cover, Maria – one of Laurel’s closest friends – is depicted with a pair of mystical horses.
